As an important tool for weighing industrial heavy trucks, the maintenance and cleaning of floor scales have become particularly important. There are many kinds of weighbridges, such as electronic weighbridge, pitless weighbridge, pit type weighbridge, etc. If the maintenance method is proper, then the production efficiency can be improved. The best way is to carry out regular and effective floor scale cleaning, which helps to maintain the performance of the floor scale and reduce the possibility of failure. This article mainly introduces the necessary knowledge about cleaning and maintaining the weighbridge to achieve continuous and accurate weight measurement. For the cycle of cleaning the floor scales, we recommend that you divide the weighbridge cleaning into daily, weekly, and monthly to get the best results.
Daily Cleaning and Inspection
We need to conduct daily inspections on the weighbridge. Only a visual inspection of the pit under the floor scale is required to determine if there is a buildup of silt and dirt, as they may affect the performance and function of the floor scale. When conducting these inspections, ensure that all employees participating in the procedure comply with relevant health and safety regulations.
Observe whether there is any material under the platform scale that may affect the measurement it provides. For the surface-mounted weighbridge to work properly, there must be enough space between the upper structure of the weighbridge and the ground. In addition, the load cell is usually located on the lower edge of the platform. All load cells, such as micro load cell, pancake load cell, bending beam load cell, etc. must be completely free from mud and other debris, because this may damage our work results. Depending on your own weighbridge model, it may include a "T" shaped rubber pad placed between the main platform and the surrounding surface. These are designed to prevent contaminants from entering the pit, however, we recommend removing these when possible for careful inspection and, if necessary, to remove any unwanted materials.
Weekly Inspection
Performing a weighing inspection test once a week can allow you to discover any potential problems with the weighbridge machine. The method is to place the vehicle on one end of the platform to record the measured value, and then repeat the same steps in the middle and the other end. Next, collate the data and analyze the readings to determine if there is a significant difference between the three numbers. Small differences are acceptable, but if the readings differ significantly, your platform scale may require professional maintenance or repair work.
For surface-mounted weighbridge, monthly maintenance is required to assess whether there is any debris accumulation under and around the floor of the floor scale to protect the load cell and ensure that it remains unblocked. If there is, be sure to remove it carefully and avoid damaging any connecting cables, as this may affect the reading.
