10 Important Factors When Using Digital Weight Indicator

The digital weight indicator, also known as the display weighing indicator, is an electronic device that converts the signal of the sensor into digital weight and it can store, count and print the data. It is often used for automatic weighing in industrial and agricultural production to improve the efficiency.

 

 

1. Installation

Generally, the digital weight indicator should be placed in a clean, dry, ventilated environment with appropriate temperature. The position of the instrument should be fixed. And do not move it frequently, or it may cause the internal head of the signal cable plug to fall off.

 

 

2. Power Supply

Most of the display weighing indicator use AC power which is 220v. The permissible range of voltage is generally 187v -- 242v. After changing the power line, we should remember to measure whether the voltage meets the requirements before electrifying the meter. Damage may be caused if a  power supply of 380 volt is mistakenly connected to the meter.

3. Grounding

The display weighing indicator should be connected to an independent and qualified ground wire. The ground wire has a dual role. On the one hand, it has to protect the operator safety. On the other hand, it has an important role in anti-interference, and it can guarantee the stability of the display weighing indicator. Furthermore, the ground wire should be fixed on the power socket of the instrument.

 

 

4. The Protection from Sunlight

We should avoid direct sunlight on the black shell of the digital weight indicator, or it may damage the working environment of the the digital weight indicator because the temperature is too high.

 

 

5. Waterproof

Generally speaking, although the humidity of the working environment can reach 95%, it is stipulated that no condensation can be generated. Special enclosure gauges made of stainless steel with waterproof function are excluded.

 

 

6. Anti-corrosion

Corrosive substances should not infiltrate into the inside of the digital weight indicator, otherwise the components on the circuit board and the circuit board will be corroded, and the display weighing indicator  may be scrapped after a long time.

7. Lightning protection

The display weighing indicator is vulnerable to lightning attack which causes the damage of components. Under normal weather, the operator only needs to switch off the power. But in the case of close strike, power plug and the signal cable plug must be unplugged.

 

 

8. Strong power protection

The digital weight indicator may be damaged if the line of power supply is over 220 volts, which is accidentally connected to the weighing platform.

 

 

9. Cleaning

In industrial environment, there may be ash or pollution on the shell, and it must be cleaned with wet cloth frequently in case of power failure. But we must pay attention to not using alcohol and other solvents to wipe thedigital weight indicator.

 

 

10. Anti-static

Once the meter is damaged, it should be repaired. In order to speed up the transmission, some companies like to remove the PCB board and send it by express mail, which will cause a problem of anti-static. The PCB board which is removed should be immediately placed into the shielding bag, or it can be wrapped with ordinary newspaper. We should also pay attention to the problem when receiving the PCB board and reloading the meter.
