Generally speaking, weighing devices can be a luxury investment. And, adding accessories can be a good way to increase productivity and to extend the useful life of your bench scale.

In many meticulous factories, objects are often oversized and too cumbersome to easily handle. Two great ways to expedite heavy industrial weighing tasks are roller decks and ramps.

Roller Decks

Roller decks can easily fit on top of some bench and floor scales. Roller decks have the ability to allow loads to move across them in two different directions to conveniently accommodate front-to-back or side-to-side loading, apart from conventional rollers, which only allow movement in one orientation.

The installation process is simple. As the roller deck is quickly and easily placed on top of a compatible platform scale. Roller decks can be used to increase productivity in many industries like electronic weighbridge manufacturers and warehouse applications, including logistics, sorting, and shipping. The use of roller decks in a conveyor system can also significantly reduce the risk of injury.

Ramps

Industrial grade ramps can make loading and unloading of a bench, floor and platform scales easier, but in a different way. Some ramps are available in either diamond-plated mild steel or heavy-duty stainless steel for the most difficult tasks. They can be used alone or in multiples to allow loading and unloading from any direction, which is very convenient for some industries.

While roller decks use ball transfer units in the deck for parcels to slide atop, ramps work in conjunction with pallet trucks and hand trucks to load larger items like drums, pallets, and barrels or, in a medical setting, wheelchairs onto a platform.

For safety, the ramps can be secured to the floor to prevent movement. Of course, when you use the way bridge weighing scale, you should pay attention to it to prevent it from dropping. When used with some specific platforms and some stainless steel platforms, the ramps are designed to securely connect to the platforms.

Accessories

Apart from roller decks and ramps, other useful accessories for a bench, floor, and industrial platform scales include:

Communication cables, software, and printers. As cables allow users to connect various scales like the stainless steel weighing scale to computers and printers, quickly transferring data and decreasing the time and effort needed to transcribe weighing results. Once the scale is connected to the computer, how does the data transfer? With software, like a good data collection program, which captures data from up to 8 different scales for analysis or export to other applications.

Calibration weights. To ensure the continued integrity of weighing results, scales should be calibrated.

Light tower kit with a relay box. Optimal for check weighing scales, the light tower indicates whether a weighing process is over, under, or within set limits. The box will make the result trigger a voltage relay and permits the scale to drive other items, including a motor for filling.

In-use covers. In messy environments, disposable in-use covers allow easy cleanup and prevent damage to scales from accidental spills.
